DNA Extraction
DNA is the molecule that contains the information of the cell. It is present in all cells and it is easy to
extract by a simple procedure. The cell and nuclear membranes of the cells are disintegrated with detergent, in saline, releasing the nucleic acids that precipitate with the addition of cold ethanol.
By doing this project, the students of the different partners schools will extract the DNA of different
organisms (fruit, liver, human buccal epithelial cells) in order to compare the results of the procedures
and analyze the differences by exchanging data using eTwinning platform.
This practice will develop scientific skills such as data collection and analysis, classification and
observation, conducting experiments and predictions, involving students in their own learning
process as well as in the use of new technologies.
